Throughout our lives, it's incredibly important to ensure that we prioritise our physical and mental health. This responsibility becomes even more crucial as we age, making it essential to actively seek the support needed to maintain optimal self-care.


Here are some great tips for staying healthy as you age:


1. Stay active: Engage in activities such as hiking, biking, dancing, and yoga to maintain mobility and mental acuity. If you have mobility issues, you can do chair-based exercises daily. Sasha, our Field Care Supervisor, is trained to provide chair-based exercise instruction and is available to meet with service users.


2. Eat well: Focus on brain-boosting foods like seafood, nuts, and veggies. Adico Care can support you in maintaining a balanced diet as part of your care plan.


3. Take care of your body: Make small changes such as reducing alcohol intake, getting enough sleep, and quitting smoking. Don't forget to attend to your healthcare needs.


4. Mind your mental health: Find healthy ways to manage stress and seek help when needed. Care staff are available to talk and direct individuals to helpful services. We also offer companionship visits, which can greatly benefit mental health.


5. Stay connected: Keep in touch with friends, family, and the community to stay happy and engaged.


6. Keep your brain active: Continue learning new things and pursuing your hobbies to keep your mind sharp. If you require support to continue carrying out your hobbies, please speak to our Field Care Supervisors who can suggest ways that we can help.
